1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Veritas Virtual Academy LLC (“Veritas,” “Veritas Learn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our virtual private school platform, educational services, web applications, content, and next-generation EdTech solutions—including AI-powered learning assistants, tutors, Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) immersive experiences, and learning management system (LMS) integrations (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing, registering for, or using our Services—whether as a student, parent/guardian, educator, private or charter school administrator, co-op leader, or prospective school owner/entrepreneur—you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Trust & Safety Commitments. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not access or use our Services.
2. Description of Services & Target Audiences
Veritas provides evidence-based and Socratic learning environments for College Prep/Readiness (Grades PreK–12) and Career Technical Vocational Education (CTVE, Grades 6–12). Our offerings cater to four primary user groups:
- Veritas Virtual Academy Families: Direct enrollment in our teacher-assisted, AI-guided virtual private school.
- Home Education (Homeschool) Families: Solutions for adaptive learning, custom curriculum generation, AI teaching assistants, student record-keeping, and state compliance support.
- Private & Charter School Partners: B2B integration of our platform, VR/AR simulations, and AI EdTech to extend existing classroom capabilities.
- Entrepreneurs & Prospective School Owners: Turnkey educational frameworks, licensing, and management software to launch and manage private educational institutions.
3. Account Eligibility & Registration
3.1 Eligibility & Account Roles
- Minors (Students): Students under 18 years of age may only access the platform through an account established and authorized by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized school representative.
- Parents & Guardians: When creating an account for your child or home education program, you confirm that you are the legal parent or guardian and agree to supervise the minor’s usage where appropriate.
- Educators & Administrators: Representatives of private, charter, or partner organizations warrant that they possess the necessary authority to bind their institution to these Terms.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (usernames and passwords) and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify Veritas immediately at sales@veritaslearn.com of any unauthorized access or security breach.
4. Student Safety, AI Safety & Educational Ethics
Our commitment to student safety forms the core of our platform architecture. By using our AI-powered tutors, learning assistants, and VR/AR immersive environments, you acknowledge and agree to our operational AI guardrails:
- No Harmful Content: Our AI models and VR/AR platforms strictly prohibit and filter out content that is inappropriate, harmful, or exploitative to minors.
- No Human-Friend Simulation: AI learning assistants and tutors are strictly educational tools designed to support learning science. They are programmed not to simulate human friendships, emotional dependence, or romantic relationships.
- Pedagogical Integrity: Our AI EdTech is designed to guide students through Socratic inquiry—helping them learn how to think rather than completing coursework or doing the thinking for them.
- Engagement Standards: We do not employ manipulative game mechanics, dark patterns, or artificial retention tricks intended to force excessive screen time. Learning efficiency and student well-being always supersede platform engagement metrics.
5. Compliance, Data Privacy & Ownership
5.1 Privacy & Regulatory Compliance
Veritas operates in full alignment with U.S. federal and state student privacy frameworks:
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act): We protect student educational records and allow parental review as required by law.
- COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act): We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal data from children under 13.
- 1EdTech TrustEd Apps & SOC 2 Type 2: Our systems adhere to strict security controls and data-handling audits.
- ESSA Tier 3 Validated: Our learning interventions are backed by evidence and efficacy metrics.
5.2 Ownership of Student Data
- No Selling or AI Training on Student Data: Veritas does not sell, rent, or lease student personal data to third parties, nor do we use student data or student-generated content to train public or foundational third-party AI models.
- Decentralized & Secure Storage: Student records are handled via privacy-first, secure decentralized cloud storage architectures.
- Data Portability: Home education families and institutional partners retain ownership of their academic records, grades, and compliance documentation.
